The chef from Málaga has been recognised with one of the awards that acknowledge the visibility, spread and importance of the gastronomy in the region.

Listed among the top restaurants in Málaga, MATIZ has reason to celebrate. The restaurant’s chef, Marcos Granados, has been awarded the Paul Schiff Award by the Academia Gastronómica of Málaga, naming him top executive chef in the region, and is among the seven recipients of awards in various categories.

For this native of Málaga, the period that kicked off with the opening of MATIZ was quite a challenge. “We are very proud of the staging and format of our restaurant, where we are committed to a novel concept and philosophy in the kitchen which has received its just rewards. We are fortunate to have such a serious staff with a strong desire to succeed.”

MATIZ has opted for fresh, traditional Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist, using local and seasonal products and giving great care to detail. This philosophy has rocketed them to one of the top spots in Málaga’s cuisine scene in a few short months.

MATIZ stands out for its high quality cuisine, with flavours infused with the Andalusian spirit. The restaurant also offers bar and cocktail service and a terrace, where you can enjoy some of the most tempting signature mixed drinks in Málaga. Nuance is a main player in the kitchen, making each culinary creation authentic and exclusive, bursting with flavour and attractive to the eye.

Myriam Ortiz, the manager at MATIZ, comments: “We are thrilled to have received this award, and are especially pleased for Marcos, as this is a well-deserved recognition for all of the effort and dedication he has put into his professional career. And of course we are happy for MATIZ, as we have all worked as a team from the very beginning of this project, focusing on every detail so that our guests feel welcome and can enjoy a pleasant dining experience.”

The awards presented this year by the Academia, now in their 28th iteration, also recognise best restaurant, best reviews and national impact, top tourist and gastronomic impact, top establishment for traditional cuisine, and top open-air restaurant/snack bar. The awards ceremony will take place on 12 January 2019 in the events hall of the Marbella Club hotel.
