The Christmas season is a special time in Málaga, with brightly lit, colourful avenues, the sound of carols in the street, the anticipation of children and the excitement of reuniting with our loved ones. This Christmas cheer really puts us in the spirit, and on 7 December we can wish on the New Moon, one of the most magical moons of the year, offering up all of our best wishes as we toast to all that 2018 has brought us.
At MATIZ, one of the top restaurants in downtown Málaga, we invite you to enjoy a magical evening with family, friends and co-workers, with a variety of tempting dishes for the season.
Our special Christmas group menus offer different options based on traditional Mediterranean and Andalusian cooking with a modern twist. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
Now is the time to choose your Christmas menu, which is no easy task considering all of the tempting options. How about poultry pâté with sherry, Iberian ham croquettes or a potato and smoked cheese fondue for starters? Seared salmon fillet with cava sauce, traditional Christmas turkey, or a delicious wedge of Iberian pork shoulder are just some of our delectable main courses. And to lead in to a leisurely after-dinner table conversation, how about some of our sweeter fare such as a caramelised nougat-flavoured torrija or a traditional Russian pastry with hazelnut crumble? The finishing touch to a very special occasion.
What would Christmas be without music? Málaga is known for its folklore, its traditional music, and its hand drums known as zambombas, a classic instrument for the season. That’s why you won’t want to miss the Zambombá that will take place on the MATIZ patio on 1 December, where you can delight in traditional carols performed by the group “De Veras” while enjoying a drink at one of the finest cocktail bars in Málaga.
Málaga is a friendly city that welcomes tourists who choose to visit us at the holidays to soak up the joy of our people, visit the most emblematic points in the city, savour the delicious Andalusian cuisine and enjoy a pleasant evening at one of the many cocktail bars in Málaga. This season is also a special time to spend with family in an exceptional setting, celebrating and making wonderful memories.
MATIZ, one of the top restaurants in downtown Málaga, has prepared special menus for the occasion, including starters such as swordfish ceviche with prawns and kimchi foam, Bloody Mary oysters, or a hearty puchero broth with mint. You can continue your culinary journey with a foie gras terrine with savoury corn toffee, soupy rice with roast veggies and prawns, or a lobster cocktail with coral gazpacho. And those of you out there with a sweet tooth cannot miss our spectacular dark chocolate half sphere made with 70% cocoa. Unforgettable!
And if you still haven’t found the perfect Three Kings Day gift for that special someone, be sure to visit our holiday market on 3 January, held in the Molina Lario hotel events room. Now in its third year, this market supports local Málaga businesses. And after the market you can enjoy a pleasant afternoon at MATIZ, one of the finest cocktail bars in Málaga.
And on 5 January, the Royal Page will visit us in calle Bolsa to collect all of the children’s wish lists and letters to the Three Kings.
Because this holiday season, all of your dreams can come true. Make your Christmas wish.
